- Jennie Love of Love n Fresh Flowers has teamed up with the crew behind the No-Till Growers Podcast to launch a podcast series focused on no-till and regenerative practices specific to flower farming. The No-Till Flowers Podcast is packed full of valuable conversations with flower farmers and soil experts from around the globe. The overarching theme of this podcast is how flower farmers, through symbiotic relationships with the myriad organisms in their farm ecosystem, can improve their stems while also enriching the earth. Topics range from no-till strategies for bed prep, Korean Natural Farming (KNF) applications for pest control, experiences in reclaiming abandoned city lots, reading soil tests with a focus on biology, cover cropping, biodynamics, habitat building, sales outlets, Covid pivots, employee management, general industry reflections, and much, much more!
- Host Jennie Love is a recognized leader in the farmer-florist movement, having started her urban flower farm in 2008 on a tiny community garden plot that has since expanded to over 3 acres in intensive flower production in the heart of Philadelphia. She is the current president of the Association of Specialty Cut Flower Growers and has spent a decade helping to educate and mentor fellow farmers. Jennie first delved into no-till farming in 2018 because of an extremely wet year that made her normal bed prep through tillage impossible. Since then she has been diving down the rabbit hole with zeal to become a self-professed soil nerd and an advocate for approaching farming as a complex web of symbiotic relationships rather than solely a human-driven crop production system. This podcast project came about because Jennie herself still has many questions about no-and-low-till methods as they relate to flower farming, soil biology, crop health, low-input approaches, farmer wellness, and more. Each guest adds a little more knowledge to the communal pot.
